National Electric Vehicle Formula Program

Purpose

To deploy EV charging infrastructure and establish a new Joint Office of Energy and Transportation within USDOT and DOE. Additional funds will be used to build and deploy EV charging infrastructure and establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability.

Applicant and/or Project Eligibility Requirements

Eligible projects include acquisition and installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure; (2) proper operation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging infrastructure; and (3) data sharing about electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Projects may include electric vehicle charging infrastructure installed on any public road or in other publicly accessible locations.

Decarbonization Considerations

By expanding access to public EV charging infrastructure, these programs aim to promote EV purchases and ownership and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Equity Considerations

For community grants, projects in rural areas and low- and moderate-income neighborhoods and communities will be prioritized.
