Charging and Fueling Program Discretionary Grants - Community Program

Purpose

As part of the Electric Vehicle Charging and Refueling Infrastructure Program at least 50% of this funding must be used for a community grant program "Community Charging" where priority is given to projects that expand access to EV charging and alternative fueling infrastructure within rural areas, low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, and communities with a low ratio of private parking spaces.

Applicant and/or Project Eligibility Requirements

Eligible applicants include state or political subdivision of a State, Metropolitan Planning Organization, Local government, Special purpose district or public authority with a transportation function, Indian Tribe, Territory.

Decarbonization Considerations

Community grants are focused on the installation of electric vehicle charging and alternative fuel in locations on public roads, schools, parks, and in publicly accessible parking facilities.

Equity Considerations

Funding is prioritized for rural areas, low-and moderate-income neighborhoods, and communities with low ratios of private parking, or high ratios of multiunit dwellings.
