Biorefinery, Renewable Chemical, and Biobased Product Manufacturing Assistance Program

Purpose

To assist in the development, construction and retrofitting of advanced biofuels, renewable chemicals, and biobased products manufacturing facilities.

Applicant and/or Project Eligibility Requirements

The program provides loan guarantees to financial institutions on behalf of a broad range of eligible entities, including individuals, public and private entities, state and local governments, corporations, tribes, farm cooperatives and agricultural associations, National Laboratories, higher education institutions, and public power entities.

Decarbonization Considerations

This program generally supports two types of projects – biorefineries, and biobased product manufacturing facilities.

Decarbonization strategies may include carbon capture and sequestration and other retrofits to reduce emissions at existing biorefineries. Applicants must submit Phase 1 application to proceed to Phase 2.
