Extensive and strategic planting of native and resilient trees, especially in denser, more developed areas, can reduce cooling needs and serve as a system energy efficiency strategy.

Equity Considerations

Consider engaging with disadvantaged communities to ensure access to green space is expanded to all community members and does not interfere with existing or desired uses. Also consider prioritizing tree plantings in communities struggling with urban heat islands.
