Direct Air Capture Technologies Prize Competitions (Energy Act)
Federal Agency

Sub-Department
Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management
Purpose
To fund both pre-commercial and commercial Direct Air Capture (DAC) applications.
Applicant and/or Project Eligibility Requirements
Eligible projects are those that demonstrate the technical and commercial viability of technologies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions released from coal electric generation facilities and natural gas electric generation facilities for commercial deployment.
Decarbonization Considerations
Extracting CO2 directly from the atmosphere has the potential to act as an important tool to achieving a net-zero future, yet utilizing such systems can be costly. Improving technology can help to address the cost issue and further reduce the carbon emissions.
Equity Considerations
Consider prioritizing projects that are located in economically and environmentally distressed communities, and maximizing the long-term benefits for residents of the region.
