Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing
To provide direct loans to re-equip, expand, or establish US facilities engaged in the production and/or engineering integration of low- or zero-emission vehicles.
Applicant and/or Project Eligibility Requirements
Eligible recipients include US automobile manufacturers and component suppliers with projects that are financially viable without federal funds.
Working with automobile manufacturers, local governments can help create clean energy economies based on advanced vehicle manufacturing. These advanced vehicles can be low- or zero- emissions vehicles.
Previous iterations of this program have prioritized older facilities (e.g., those older than 20 years). Should this be the case again, local governments could use loans to rejuvenate hard-hit, post-industrial areas.
This program recapitalizes the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Incentive Program, originally established by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (42 U.S.C. 17013(d)).
